Today is World Tourism Day 2019 (In Nepali : विश्व पर्यटन दिवस 2019) So, on this very special day I would like to wish you all a very Happy World Tourism Day 2019 from Nepal, country of Earth’s highest mountain.
World Tourism Day, celebrated every 27 September around the world, is a unique opportunity to raise awareness on tourism’s actual and potential contribution to sustainable development.
“Atithi Dewo Bhawa”, in Sanskrit, literally means Guest is God. This adage expresses Nepali cultural character since the time immemorial. This reflects age-long cultural characteristics of the Nepali civilization that derived its linguistic, religious and socio-cultural features from Sanskrit.

The Nepal Tourism Board along with leading Nepali Tour Operators organized the Nepal Sales Mission in the major tourist generating cities of Europe: Zurich, Paris and Brussels from 17-21 June, 2019. The Representative of Nepal to the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, H. E. Mani Prasad Bhattarai, the Ambassador of Nepal to France, H. E. Dipak Adhikari, and the Ambassador of Nepal to Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg, H. E. Lok Bahadur Thapa delivered the welcome address in Zurich, Paris and Brussels respectively.
The NTB showcased Nepal as much more than just mountains, focusing on the vast cultural, heritage, spiritual, natural aspects of Nepal and elaborated on the enhancements and new tourism products being introduced especially in the VNY2020. Emphasizing that Nepal is characterized by natural and cultural unity and diversity and the unique contrast of tradition and modernity is sure to offer visitors from all over the world a Lifetime Experience.
The audience was enthralled with the multitude of tourism offerings beyond adventure activities and very appreciative of the hiking trail for differently abled in Pokhara and the efforts made by Nepal in doubling the tiger population and conservation and expressed full support for the VNY2020 campaign. The numbers from the Benelux countires have shown a positive growth of over 31% in 2018 and we are confident that the numbers will grow strongly in the coming years. NTB was represented by Ms Nandini Lahe-Thapa, Sr Director – Marketing and Promotion and Mr, Nabin Pokharel, Manager- TMP.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari died in a helicopter crash which killed six others onboard.
Travelling with Minister Adhikari were the pilot of the helicopter Captain Prabhakar KC, tourism entrepreneur Ang Tshiring Sherpa, security personnel Arjun Ghimire, Under-Secretary at the Prime Minister’s office Yubaraj Dahal, Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Birendra Shrestha, and CAAN Engineer Dhruba Das Bhochhibhaya
Statements expressing sorrow have been pouring in for the Minister who was known for his grounded and approachable personality, and for the six others who lost their lives.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari expressed shock and sadness on the demise of seven people on board.

पर्यटन प्रवद्र्धन र विकाशमा थोरै समयमा पर्यटन क्षेत्रले अनुभुत गर्न सक्ने परिणाममुखि काम गर्न सफल मन्त्री अधिकारी, सफल एंव वरिष्ठ पर्यटन व्यवसायि आङ्ग छिरिङ्ग शेर्पा र नेपाल सरकारका राष्ट्र सेवक कर्मचारीहरुको अप्रत्याशित निधनबाट पर्यटन क्षेत्र तथा समग्र मुलुकले नै अपूरणीय क्षति व्यहोर्न पुगेको छ ।

Bodies of the seven persons, including Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari who lost their lives in yesterday’s chopper crash in Pathibhara region, have been taken to Suketar Airport in Taplejung by Nepal Army.
Bodies of four crash victims had been taken to Suketar following the crash yesterday while bodies of three others have been taken there from the incident site by Nepal Army today morning despite bad weather conditions.
Chief District Officer of Taplejung, Anuj Bhandari, informed that the bodies were brought to the airport in Nepal Army’s helicopter.
According to him, weather condition has still not improved at the airport region due to which security personnel have to wait for improvement in weather to lift the bodies to Kathmandu.
The CDO further informed that bodies of all deceased including the tourism minister would be sent to Kathmandu today itself after completing due procedures at Suketar Airport.
The Air Dynasty chopper — carrying seven people including Minister Adhikari and the pilot — was on its way to Kathmandu via Pathibhara region after completing inspection of an under-construction airport at Chuhan Danda of Tehrathum when it crashed in Darebheer of Taplejung. No one survived the crash.
