Kathmandu, Pokhara, Muktinath and Chitwan – Client’s Review

pokhara1Dear Mr. R R Tiwari ji,

We thank you very much for the service and hospitality provided to us by you and your team during our tour of NEPAL from 16~27th of March, 2015.  We really enjoyed the entire trip everywhere in KTM, POKHARA, MUKTINATH and CHITWAN.

Especially the driver Mr. Shyam and Hotel Manager at Pokhara Mr.Krishna Pandey has taken extra care.  However, I would like to draw your kind attention towards some points to be take care in future to improve your Planning and service.

(1) At Muktinath temple we can spend enough time if one more night hold can be arranged at Muktinath.

(2) At JANAKPUR temples are remains closed during 12 to 4 pm, hence timing should be set accordingly. As we can’t get DARSHAN of any temple inside.

 (3) At chitwan we were not informed about Jungle Safari by Zeep as we had enough time on the day of arrival and payment was also to be made by us separately.

 (4) At JOMSOM hotel Majesty is a good property but service needs improvement. May be at extra cost. In such a cold area no hot water or fire vessel provided.

But in general our trip was extra fine. Luckily we enjoyed heavy snow at Muktinath and at Annapurna base camp which was arranged by us separately by helicopter.

Thank you very much once again,

Regards,

Ganeshbhai Thumar

The first meeting of Joint Working Group (JWG) on tourism between Nepal and India is starting in New Delhi, India from Thursday.

A 12-member delegation led by Joint Secretary Umakanta Parajuli left for the Indian capital of Wednesday to attend the meeting. Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation had formed the 12-member team last week to represent Nepal in the JWG meeting. Along with Parajuli, Tulsi Prasad Gautam, director general of Department of Tourism; Nandini Lahe Thapa, officiating CEO of Nepal Tourism Board; Shreejana Rana, tourism convener of Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI); Ramesh Dhamala, president of Trekking Agencies´ Association of Nepal (TAAN); DB Limbu, president of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), a representative from Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and five government officials are in the team.

According to Parajuli, JWG will oversee implementation of agreements related to tourism sector that are included in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that Nepal and India signed on the sidelines of the 18th SAARC Summit in Kathmandu in November. “In the meeting, we will discuss how Nepal and India can benefit from each others. Similarly, we will also explore the possibility of launching joint tourism promotional campaigns,” he added.

According to officials, Nepal will focus on joint promotion of the Buddhist Circuit (Lumbini-Boddgaya-Sarnath-Kushinagar), facilitate banking system for travelers, human resource development, and promoting cities in Nepal and India with historical and religious similarities as sister cities, among others.

Similarly, it aims to increase investment in tourism and hospitality sector, exchange of experience in the areas of promotion, marketing, destination development and management, and promote sustainable tourism, among others. The meeting of JWG will take place every two years. According to NICCI, JWG will also work to simplify procedures and policies for third-party payment collections as well as transfers between India and Nepal and create a Nepal-India Tourism Forum for discussing bilateral tourism issues. JWG will also work toward holding B2B mart for international travel operators to jointly promote tourism attractions in both the countries and explore the possibility of launching joint promotional campaigns in the international market. TAAN President Dhamala said it is a necessity to jointly promote Nepal and India as both countries have many similarities. “Tourism industry in Nepal can take huge benefit from the joint promotion campaigns as this will help in bring not only Indians but also others tourists visiting India to Nepal,” said Dhamala.

CNP recognized as best conservation area for tigers

CNP recognized as best conservation area for tigers

Nepal has accomplished yet another milestone in its efforts to conserve wild animals by meeting a set of international standards considered ideal for the conservation of tigers.

Rich in biodiversity of both flora and fauna, Nepal´s Chitwan National Park (CNP) has received the international recognition for being the best conservation zone for tiger protection. The CNP´s management has excelled under all of the 17 major standards prescribed internationally for creating best grounds for tiger protection.

“This is a great achievement for Nepal. Now, recognized for having the best conservation area for big cats, the success truly reflects the combined efforts of the Nepal government, local communities, the Nepal Army and various organizations working hand in hand to create a better shelter for tigers. I hope other countries will take lesson from what Nepal has achieved in the past few years,” said Mike Baltzer of the WWF Alive Initiative.

The recognition to CNP is given by CATS (Conservation Assured Tiger Standards), an international committee devoted to develop and assure best habitation ground for the wild life protection across the globe.

According to Khalid Pasha, manager at CATS, a survey was conducted under major standards like tiger population, the involvement of local communities, overall management of the park and work force, flow of tourist, and management of tiger habitation. CNP has secured impressive points in all these important categories.

“This is a great success for Nepal, a gold standard that marks the well management of CNP when it comes to tiger conservation. This achievement should certainly work as an inspiration for other tiger range countries to meet similar standards and create better homes for these valuable forest animals,” said Pasha.

Nestled at the foothills of Himalaya, CNP is a home for 120 tigers along with 68 species of mammals, 54 species of birds and 126 species of fishes. The park is best known for the protection of One Horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger and Ghariyal Crocodile. Located in the Southern Central Tarai region of Nepal, the park extends to an area of 93,200 hectors of land, spreading in four districts Nawalparasi, Parsa, Chitwan and Makawanpur.

Pasha further shared that the achieved accreditation not only signifies the best wild life management of CNP but it will also help win trusts of bigger donors with intention to donate for wild life conservation.

“Having achieved this certification, Nepal has now earned the respect of other countries and donors abroad,” said Pasha.

Meanwhile, Tika Ram Adhikari, director general at the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, attributed the success to the teamwork.

“In the coming days, we are planning to introduce this wildlife quality management certification for conservation of various other animals in both Banke National Park and Shukla Phanta Wildlife Reserve. We hope to create safest shelters in Nepal for all types wild animals,” said Adhikari.
