Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded Nepal for shunning the path of violence to settle the internal conflict. The Indian PM openly appreciated Nepal’s peace process during his speech on the occasion of 68th Independence Day of India which is marked on 15th of August. He said the international community can learn peaceful means opted by the people of Nepal.
During a special function organized at Lal Killa (Red fort) in New Delhi, the Indian premier said “Buddha Bhumi (land of Buddha) Nepal” mentioned about the political transformation in Nepal from war to Buddha and weapons to scripture. “India should take lesson from Nepal’s success in settling the internal conflict,” said Modi in his speech. “In Nepal, at one time the youth had taken the path of violence. But today the same youth are waiting for the constitution to be made,” he said. Modi said: “I had said that Nepal can inspire youth of the world who have taken the path of violence to come back on the path of peace. If Nepal can have peace, then why can’t India.” After PM Modi’s speech, heads of different diplomatic agencies congratulated the acting Nepali Ambassador to Nepal, Krishna Prasad Dhakal, on ‘the message of successful peace process.’
