Ultra marathon runner and the world record holder Sanjay Pandit has set new record in Australia conquering its highest peak by walking backwards.

Pandit conquered the Mount Kosciuszko, 2,228 meters high above the sea level, in just 5 hours and 45 minutes wearing Nepali national attire and holding a Nepali national flag.

Pandit already set record by climbing highest peak of Europe, Africa and Asia. He is also on the quest of conquering the tallest mountains in all seven continents. Local Nepali social workers and journalists residing in Australia helped Pandit to climb the peak.

Previously, Sanjay set a world record on 20th July staying half- naked at Mt. Elbrus, the highest peak of Europe, for 6 minutes and 3 seconds at the temperature of minus 60 degrees Celsius. Not only that, he also holds the record for running the longest distance in Nepal, which is 2,495 kilometers.

Pandit is slated to climb highest peak of America in July to set new record. Rudra Nepal, Nepali ambassador to Australia, has honoured and congratulated Pandit amid a program organized in Australia-based Nepali embassy.

Entrepreneur Pradip Dhakal, Dr. Samsher Sing Thapa, journalist Hemanta Kafle as well as others supported Pandit in Australia.

Tourist arrival up in Ramechhap

Tourists heading to the Everest Base Camp through Ramechhap have doubled this year in comparison with last year.

According to Bikash Pandit, administrative assistant at Gauri Shankar Conservation Area Shivalaya-based tourism check post, the number of tourists heading to the Everest base camp from Dolakha’s Jiri via Chuchure, Gumdel and Bamti of Ramechhap has doubled this year.

“Every day about 40 tourists en-route to the base camp get themselves registered at the check post, which is double the number of tourists compared to last year,” said Pandit, adding, “There are times when even the mountaineers have used this route.”

Nara Bahadur Shrestha, who owns a hotel in Shivalaya, was upbeat about the increase in tourists using the route. “Since the route traversing through the sanctuary is an exciting one and lasts for seven to nine days, it’s appealing to the tourists,” said Shrestha. “Though the majority of tourists trekking on this route are French and German, there are nevertheless significant numbers of visitors from other countries like US, Canada, Spain, Japan, Korea, Belgium, India and China as well,” Shrestha added.

Italian Ambassador to Nepal Daniel Mancini on Monday met with the office-bearers of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) at the chamber´s secretariat in Jamal.

In the meeting, Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, president of NCC, emphasized the need to strengthen economic and trade relations between Nepal and Italy. “There are lot of investment opportunities in Nepal´s hydropower, tourism, physical infrastructure, information and telecommunication, education, health and agriculture sectors,” Shrestha told the ambassador, according to a statement issued on Monday.

Shrestha also requested the Italian envoy to facilitate Nepali exporters to participate in trade fairs held in Italy for expanding relation between businesspeople of both the countries. Similarly, Ambassador Mancini said Nepal could be a happening destination for Italian tourists. He also urged Nepali businesspeople to participate in the ´Milano Trade Fair in 2015´. NCC´s 2nd vice president Rajendra Malla, treasurer Rajendra Aryal and joint treasurer Raja Ratna Tuladhar were present in the meeting.

The super adventurous sport of paragliding will commence officially in the Kathmandu valley after conclusion of the Bada Dashain festival with a joint effort from the South Korean ParaLove Company and the Paragliding And Hand Gliding Company based in the capital city.

The Multitude Of Adventures

The paragliding will take place from Bisankhunarayan VDC of the Lalitpur district.

At least 10 glider-aircrafts –five double seated aircrafts with pilots and five single seated aircrafts – will be used for the airborne entertainment at Kotdanda, Chapakharka and Bistachap areas of Bisankhunarayan-4.

The airborne entertainment service is currently on a test at the localities from where visitors get a chance of relishing a splendid view of the three districts of the valley below.

The service that will start with the theme ´Paragliding in Kathmandu´ will be open for public from 8 am to 5 pm.

Tourist’s arrival in Sagarmatha region, the location of the world’s tallest peak Mt Everest, has surged. A significant number of foreigners throng Solu via Tenjing Hillary Airport, each day from various points, according to Civil Aviation Authority, Lukla.

A large number of foreigners have arrived for a trek in the Khumbu region since a couple of week.

Foreign tourists arrive in the area to view the panorama of the Mt Everest during this season. With the flow of the travelers’ arrival in the Khumbu region, various private and government airlines companies including Sita, Tara, Simrik, and Nepal Airlines operate around 30 flights daily in the district.

Around 300 foreigners enter the district through air. Thousands of tourists prefer viewing Mt. Everest and other mountains on October and November annually.

Tourism entrepreneurs are glad after finding booming business due to regular flights following the good weather this year.

The hotels in trekking routes to the Khumbu regions have been packed with tourists in Lukla, Jorsalle, Fakdin, Namche, Khumjung, and Temboche among other places. The porters are found thronging uphill to earn money ignoring their upcoming festival Dashain and Tihar.

Around 25,000 tourists visit the Sagarmatha National Park annually and this trend has continued for the last 10 years, according to the Park Office.

As  per  the  decision  of  Ministry  of  Culture,  Tourism  and Civil Aviation,  mountains of the height less than 5800m will be promoted as trekking peaks and royalty fee has been waived for those peaks. Hence, the  following  peaks  managed by NMA are free of royalty fee from now.
