Kathmandu-Lhasa-Kailash/Mansarovar-Lhasa-Kathmandu-15 Days

Day 01: Katmandu (1300 mts.) Arrival, Our reprehensive will meet at the airport and escort to the Hotel, Free at own and Evening dinner, overnight stay at Katmandu.

Day 02: Katmandu – After breakfast start to Katmandu sightseeing including Pashupatinath and Budhanilkanth Darshan, back to hotel and rest of the day is free for packing and program briefing.

Day 03: Fly to Lhasa (3650 mts.), Meet the group at the airport by the guide and transfer to Hotel.

Day 04: Sightseeing tour of the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Bazaar, Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 05: Lhasa to Shigatse (3800 mts.), Visit the Tashilunpo Monastery and the free market. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 06: Shigatse to Saga / Dongba (4500mts. – 375kms) – After breakfast drive from Nylam to Dongba for about 08:00 hours. Overnight stay at Dongba at guesthouse.

Day 07: Saga / Dongba (4500mts. – 335kms) to Mansarovar – After breakfast drive from to Mansarovar about 07:00 hours. Overnight stay at guest house.

Day 08: Mansarovar to Darchen (4600mts. – 110kms.) – We will choose the special point to take dip in Manasarovar Lake and do Pooja of Lord Shiva. Full day free for spiritual activities. Drive around 2.30 hrs to Darchen and overnight stay there.

Day 09: Darchen to Diraphuk (4890mts. – 12kms.) – This is the first day of Kailash Parikrama. We should start our journey after breakfast as early as possible. This day we have to walk continuously for about 6 to 7 hours. Yak will carry all our goods and equipment. Overnight stay at mud House.

Day 10: Diraphuk to Zhulthulphuk (4790mts. – 22kms.) – This day is very sensitive and we have to pass Dolma-La Pass, which is 5400 mt. above sea level. The weather in unpredictable in Doma-la Pass and at any time snowstorm can fall. So we try to start our journey as early as possible. In route we can have Darshan of Gaurikund but it is very difficult to go and touch. Overnight stay in route to Zhulthulphuk at mud House.

Day 11: Zhulthulphuk to Saga– We will Trek down to Darchen later our tour starts back for Kathmandu following the same route and same system applies for all subjects of our accommodation and meal.

Day 12: Saga to Xigatse – Drive back to Xigatse, O/N stay at the hotel.

Day 13: Xigatse to Lhasa – Drive back to Lhasa, O/N stay at the hotel.

Day 14: Kathmandu – Fly from Lhasa to Kathandu, O/N stay at the hotel.

Day 15: Morning check out hotel, transfer to airport, catch flight for next Destination.

Snowfall affects climbing in Everest region

KATHMANDU, Nepal – Incessant snowfall has hit climbing activities in Khumbu region, forcing most climbers to change their acclimatisation plans.

The region has witnessed heavy snowfall for the last twelve hours, said Tshering Sherpa, base camp manager of Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee. According to him, Everest Base Camp and other adjoining areas received two feet of fresh snow.

Kuntal Joisher, team leader of the six-member Snowy Everest Expedition, said most of the tents were snow-covered. “We are more than 900 people at the base camp as above 60 per cent Everest climbers with their support staff have arrived for acclimatisation,” he said, adding that most expeditions decided to change acclimatisation plans due to freak weather.

Snowfall affects climbing in Everest region

The health centre at Feriche has treated 205 patients in the last three weeks. Snow storms and fluctuating weather increases the risks and severity of high altitude sickness. Govind Bashyal, an official at the health centre run by Himalaya Rescue Association, said, “Seventeen persons have been evacuated to Kathmandu for further treatment.”

Senior meteorologist Krishna Bhakta Manandhar has requested climbers to be cautious about the adverse impact of freak climate as the existing weather pattern will last till Tuesday. “Westerly and vapour-laden wind from the Arabian sea has a direct influence on the mountain region,” he said. Snowfall will last in the Khumbu region for three more days as strong westerly winds from the northern belt of India has been causing snowfall in the region, he added.

Small avalanches have also been occurring on a daily basis from the West Shoulder near Camp 1, according to Lakpa Sherpa, senior staff at a health camp set up by HRA. Ang Sarki Sherpa, an Icefall doctor who was injured in the icefall section while clearing the treacherous route yesterday, however said the new route up the mountain was safe.

Srihari Bhatta, Manager at Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, informed that freak weather had also affected several flights this morning. “Lukla airstrip which usually handles more than 80 fixed-wing and helicopter flights during this season, witnessed only 28 landings and take-offs this morning,” he said.

According to Gyanendra Shrestha, an official at the Department of Tourism, this year, 43 teams applied for permit to climb Mt Everest.

Individuals can carry Rs 500, Rs 1000 notes to Nepal & Bhutan: RBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today announced that an individual travelling to neighbouring countries like Nepal and Bhutan can carry Indian currency notes in denominations of Rs 500 and Rs  1,000.

“An individual can now carry to Nepal and Bhutan Indian currency notes in denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, subject to a limit of Rs 25,000,” RBI said in a statement.

Earlier, individuals were allowed to carry Indian currency without any limit in denomination of only up to Rs 100.

This has been relaxed to mitigate the hardship faced by individuals travelling to Nepal and Bhutan from India, it  added.

The RBI has suitably amended the  Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Currency) Regulations, 2000 to incorporate the relaxation.

Nepal–In order to minimize air and noise pollution, spread awareness among locals regarding health benefits of walking as well as economic benefits of the practice, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, in association with other organizations is going to launch a weeklong campaign titled ‘Ktm Walks: Celebrate the Freedom of Movement’ from September 20.

The campaign to be launched on the occasion of ‘World Car Free Day’ on September 22 also aims to encourage people to walk in core city areas. It will also aims to promote walking in various road stretches of the Capital Kathmandu calling for people to avoid using cars one day a year and promote cycling and walking.

Private motor vehicles’ entry into certain road stretches will be restricted and the space will be exclusively used by people to walk, cycle, play, eat, relax and perform other recreational activities.
